Prometheus ERP deployment for Merit College of Nursing Sciences (Nigeria)

Merit College of Nursing Sciences trains nurses and midwives in Orlu, Imo State, Nigeria. Promatics deployed Prometheus, our ERP built on ERPNext, to support the college's administration.

The challenge

Merit College of Nursing Sciences is a nursing and midwifery college in Orlu, Imo State, Nigeria. It offers programmes in general nursing, midwifery and related areas, with classrooms, laboratories, a simulation studio and a library to run and maintain.

A college of this kind is an organisation as well as a school. Behind the teaching sit:

  • Finance. Fees and other income, budgets, payments to suppliers and staff, and accounts that must stand up to scrutiny.
  • People. Academic and support staff records, leave, and payroll information.
  • Purchasing and assets. Teaching supplies, laboratory and simulation equipment, and the facilities themselves.
  • Administration and reporting. Information that management, governors and regulators ask for, produced without re-keying data from several places.

When these functions rely on separate spreadsheets, month-end takes longer than it should and answers to simple questions depend on who has the latest file.

What we implemented

Promatics deployed Prometheus, our ERP built on the open-source ERPNext platform, for Merit College of Nursing Sciences.

Prometheus is designed to bring accounting, purchasing, inventory, administration, project and task management and human resource management into one web-based system, with role-based access so that each person sees what their job requires. Because it runs in a browser, staff can use it from the campus or elsewhere without installing software.

This summary records the deployment at the level we can confirm publicly. It does not list every module configured or every process changed.

Results

The project was completed as a Prometheus deployment for Merit College of Nursing Sciences.

We have not published measured outcomes for this project, and we do not add figures after the fact.

What this means for your organisation

Private colleges, nursing and health schools, training providers and other education organisations across Nigeria often run finance, HR and administration on tools that were never designed to work together. This is a home-market project, and an ERP approach helps when:

  • Fees, grants and other income need to reconcile cleanly with the general ledger.
  • Staff and payroll information must be accurate and access-controlled.
  • Equipment and supplies, from laboratory kit to classroom technology, need to be bought, tracked and maintained.
  • Reporting to boards, funders and regulators should come from one set of numbers.

Education organisations also hold personal data about students and staff, which the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) covers. Depending on the type of institution, regulators such as the NUC, NBTE or the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria may also ask for records and reports. This is general information, not legal advice. Choosing hosting deliberately, in line with the NDPA's rules on transfers outside Nigeria, and designing permissions carefully are practical first steps.
