Prometheus ERP deployment for Ejemen Diagnostic and Ambulatory Center (Nigeria)

Ejemen Diagnostic and Ambulatory Center provides laboratory tests, imaging, outpatient care and related services in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. Promatics deployed Prometheus, our ERP built on ERPNext, to support the centre's operations.

The challenge

A diagnostic and ambulatory centre combines clinical workflow with a business that has to be run well:

Patient flow

Registration, appointments, consultations and follow-up, each visit on the right patient record.

Laboratory workflow

Sample collection, testing, results: a clear record of what was requested, done and reported.

Billing

Tests, imaging and consultations charged accurately and collected, direct or third-party.

Supplies

Reagents and consumables bought, stored and tracked, often by batch and expiry.

The back office

Accounting, staff administration and purchasing.

With clinical records, billing and stock in separate tools, details are entered more than once and errors appear in the gaps.

What we implemented

Prometheus, our ERP built on the open-source ERPNext platform, includes a healthcare edition: web-based and configurable, designed to manage a laboratory's operation and workflow end to end, from sample collection to diagnosis and patient history. Its healthcare capabilities:

  • Patient details
  • Appointments and consultations
  • Patient encounters
  • Assessments, prescriptions and medical coding in one place

These sit alongside its accounting, purchasing, inventory and human resource functions. This summary records the deployment at the level we can confirm publicly. It does not list every module configured or every process changed.

Results

Completed as a Prometheus deployment for Ejemen Diagnostic and Ambulatory Center. We have not published measured outcomes for this project, and we do not add figures after the fact.

What this means for your organisation

Private diagnostic and specialty clinics and community health organisations across Nigeria need patient workflow joined to billing, supplies and finance. As in this home-market project, build local requirements in from the start:

Health data protection

Sensitive personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA); National Health Act 2014 confidentiality duties apply.

Access and audit

Role-based access, audit trails and careful exports matter as much as features.

Billing models

Private-pay, HMO and other third-party billing, each configured separately.

Integration

Existing laboratory or imaging systems may stay; the ERP handles finance, stock and administration.

Hosting and data location. A Lagos or Abuja data centre, a cloud region abroad or on premises, following the NDPA's rules on transfers outside Nigeria and any Federal Ministry of Health or state ministry of health requirements.
