EDR deployment and management

EDR watches what happens on laptops, desktops and servers, not just which files arrive. We choose a platform, roll it out without disruption, tune it so alerts mean something, and monitor 24/7 for managed-service clients.

Who this service is for

A good fit if

  • You want to catch attacks antivirus misses: stolen credentials, legitimate tools.
  • Your cyber insurer requires EDR or asks whether alerts are monitored.
  • You own EDR licences (such as Microsoft 365 Business Premium) never fully deployed.
  • Alerts go to an inbox nobody watches, across mixed Windows, macOS and Linux devices.

What is included

  • Inventory of Windows, macOS and Linux endpoints, protection and gaps
  • Platform recommendation for your environment and budget
  • Policies, device groups, documented exclusions, tuned for low noise
  • Staged rollout, pilot group first, conflicting antivirus removed
  • Tamper protection and device isolation configured and tested
  • Alert routing, escalation contacts, playbooks; 24/7 triage for managed-service clients

What this service is

Endpoint detection and response (EDR) runs on each laptop, desktop and server, records activity and flags attack-like behaviour (unusual processes, password dumping, file encryption, movement between machines), so an analyst can investigate and isolate the device while the rest of the organisation keeps working. Antivirus mostly blocks known files (EDR vs antivirus). We select, deploy, tune and manage it, with 24/7 monitoring for managed-service clients. The platform fits your devices, licences, monitoring and budget; if you already own EDR (some Microsoft 365 plans, such as Business Premium, include Defender for Business), we start there:

  • Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
  • Defender for Business
  • CrowdStrike Falcon
  • SentinelOne
  • Fortinet FortiEDR

One layer among several

EDR catches what gets past other defences; it does not replace them. We document coverage and monitoring, so you can answer your insurer accurately.

MFA and account hygiene

Make stolen passwords less useful.

Email security

Stops many attacks before they reach a device.

Patching

Closes the weaknesses attackers use.

Tested backups

Recovery if the worst happens.

Awareness training

Staff spot and report what tools miss.

Monitoring, rollout and data location

Alerts are triaged against playbooks: closed as harmless, raised with your named contact, or the device isolated at once. Reports cover detections, coverage, devices that stopped reporting and recommended changes.

Rollout problems we plan for
  • Unknown devices: rarely connected laptops, old servers and shared machines. We compare the EDR console with your device management tool and directory until the numbers agree.
  • Two products fighting: old antivirus left running can slow devices or conflict. We remove it or switch it to a compatible mode, in a controlled order.
  • Business software flagged: applications, scripts and backup agents can look like malware. We test them in the pilot and add narrow, documented exclusions.
  • Alert fatigue: an untuned console trains people to ignore it. Early tuning makes later alerts worth acting on.
  • Intermittent connectivity: devices offline or on weak links report late. We check policy updates and reporting over the connections your staff actually use.
  • Round-the-clock cover: for managed-service clients, monitoring of key infrastructure, computers and servers continues through nights and holidays.

EDR sends device telemetry to the vendor's cloud, usually hosted outside Nigeria. Where data location matters, we check storage locations, record the choice and review vendor terms against the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, including its rules on transfers outside Nigeria, and your sector regulator's requirements (such as the CBN's for banks and payment service providers). Not legal advice.

Delivery

How the work is delivered

  1. Review

Count devices, check protection and licences, and confirm insurer or client requirements.

    Output: Inventory and platform recommendation.

  2. Pilot

Deploy to a small group, check performance and test your key business applications.

    Output: Pilot results, adjusted policies.

  3. Roll out

Deploy group by group, remove old antivirus and confirm every device is reporting.

    Output: Coverage report.

  4. Tune and test

Review early alerts, set exclusions carefully, and test detection and device isolation.

Output: Tuned policies and test evidence.

  5. Monitor and respond

For managed-service clients, 24/7 monitoring and playbook-based triage, with regular reports.

    Output: Reports and reviewed playbooks.

Scope at a glance

Not included unless agreed

  • EDR licences, billed separately or bought directly
  • Devices out of scope or below the platform's minimum requirements
  • Legal forensics (specialist firm) and unrelated IT fixes, unless agreed

What we need from you

  • Admin access through Intune or another agreed method
  • A current device and server list, including remote ones
  • An escalation contact who can authorise isolation; server change windows

Before handover

  • Every in-scope device confirmed reporting; missing devices listed
  • Detection tested with safe vendor files; isolation tested before it is needed
  • Every exclusion documented with its reason; contacts and playbooks written down

What affects the cost

  • Number and type of endpoints and servers
  • EDR platform and licence tier, often dollar-priced
  • 24/7 managed monitoring or your own team
  • Application testing, exclusions; insurer, client or regulator evidence

No package prices: estimates in naira from an agreed scope, taxes shown separately.

Questions buyers usually ask

Will EDR slow down our computers?

Modern agents are designed to be light, but some business applications need testing or careful exclusions, which is why we pilot first.

Who responds when an alert fires at night?

For managed-service clients, alerts are monitored 24/7 and handled under agreed playbooks, which can include isolating a device from the network. Response targets are set in the service agreement.
