Managed IT & Support

Cloud services and migration

A well-designed cloud can improve performance, control IT costs and give secure, reliable access to company data from any device, anywhere. We help you choose the right approach, migrate safely and run it well.

Who this service is for

A good fit if

  • Your servers are ageing and you must choose between replacing them and the cloud.
  • Staff need secure access to files and applications from home, the road or several offices.
  • Cloud bills, often dollar-priced, keep rising unexplained, or a quick setup was never reviewed.
  • Certain data must stay in Nigeria or under controlled conditions, for contractual, regulatory or customer reasons.

What is included

  • Readiness assessment: workloads, dependencies, data sensitivity, costs
  • Per-workload approach: rehost, replatform, replace with SaaS, or stay
  • Target architecture: identity, networking, security, backup, regions
  • Planned migration: sequence, testing, cut-over, rollback, agreed windows
  • Cost controls: budgets, alerts, tagging, right-sizing
  • Managed-client monitoring, patching, backup; documentation and handover session

What this service is

Choosing, moving to and running on cloud platforms: file servers to Microsoft 365, a business application to a virtual server in a data centre or cloud region, or redesigned hosting, tailored to your organisation. Not everything should move, or move the same way. Waves are planned around connectivity limits and power interruptions, so work continues. Delivered as projects or within managed IT services.

Platforms and data location

  • AWS
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Cloud (GCP)
  • Oracle Cloud
  • IBM Cloud
  • Akamai Cloud (formerly Linode)

Azure often suits Microsoft 365 users, Oracle Cloud Oracle databases and applications, Akamai simpler, cost-conscious virtual servers; see also AWS engineering. We recommend by workload, skills and existing licences, and naming a platform implies no partner status. Compare options at data centre and hosting.

Local data centreLagos, Abuja, for exampleLatency, cost, resilience and the rules that apply
Public cloud region abroadNearest large ones in South Africa and EuropeThe same, plus NDPA transfer rules

A chosen location does not settle where every copy ends up: some services are global, and support, monitoring or backup may involve other countries. We document where data is stored and processed, and never claim an in-country hyperscaler region.

Data protection. The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA), enforced by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, sets rules for transfers outside Nigeria. Banks and payment service providers follow Central Bank of Nigeria requirements; public institutions follow NITDA guidelines, the Nigeria Cloud Computing Policy and the Guidelines for Nigerian Content Development in ICT (local hosting of government data). We explain the technical side; not legal advice.

Security and running costs

Providers secure their infrastructure; you configure accounts, access, networks and data, so an open storage bucket or over-privileged account is your risk. We set up MFA and least privilege, log administrative activity and review configurations against each provider's security recommendations. Afterwards, the cloud needs patching, monitoring, backup, access reviews and cost management; costs creep quietly and dollar pricing adds exchange-rate risk, so we review spending regularly.

Delivery

How the work is delivered

  1. Assess

Workloads, data, dependencies, licensing, costs, and data location or compliance needs.

    Output: Cloud readiness assessment.

  2. Design

Choose platform, region and architecture per workload, and estimate running costs.

Output: Target architecture, cost estimate in naira (or US dollars where priced in dollars).

  3. Migrate

Planned waves, each tested before users switch over, with rollback ready.

    Output: Migrated workloads, test results.

  4. Optimise and manage

Tune performance and costs, set up monitoring and backups, and hand over documentation.

Output: Cost and performance report, runbook.

Scope at a glance

Not included unless agreed

  • Cloud subscriptions and consumption, billed by the provider
  • Cloud-native application rewrites, unless scoped separately
  • OS, database, backup licences; legal advice on data location or transfers

What we need from you

  • Admin access to servers, applications and existing cloud accounts
  • Vendor contact on cloud support and licensing terms
  • A decision-maker on data location, security and budget; agreed maintenance windows

Before handover

  • Users test each workload before old systems retire; rollback for every cut-over
  • Least-privilege access and MFA on all administrative accounts
  • Backups configured and test-restored; cost alerts catch unexpected spending

What affects the cost

  • Number and complexity of workloads
  • Data volume to migrate; internet link quality
  • Application dependencies and vendor support requirements
  • Security, compliance, data location; ongoing management

No package prices: estimates in naira from an agreed scope, taxes shown separately.

Questions buyers usually ask

Can our data stay in Nigeria?

There is no major public cloud region in Nigeria, so the options are local data centres or regions abroad (below). We choose in line with NDPA transfer rules and sector rules such as the CBN's or NITDA's, and check each service, backup and support process rather than assume.

Will the cloud be cheaper than our servers?

Not always. Occasional large purchases become monthly charges, often in US dollars, so exchange rates move the bill, and poorly managed environments cost more. We estimate running costs before you decide, then set cost controls.

How do you avoid downtime during migration?

Planned waves, each workload tested before users switch, cut-overs outside busy periods and a rollback plan ready. Some brief interruptions are usually unavoidable, and we agree them with you in advance.
