Software & Cloud Development

Hybrid and cross-platform app development

Most organisations need their app on iPhone and Android, and two codebases double the work. We help you pick the right framework and build one codebase that still feels at home on each platform.

Who this service is for

A good fit if

  • Same app on iOS and Android, with build and maintenance costs under control.
  • Your developers know JavaScript, TypeScript, Dart or C# and will help maintain it.
  • Forms, lists, data, content, bookings, payments, workflows; not heavy graphics or unusual hardware.
  • You want code shared with a web app, or an older hybrid app modernised.

What is included

  • Framework assessment: Flutter, React Native, .NET MAUI or a PWA
  • One codebase, native modules where needed, designs adapted per platform
  • Integration with your backend, identity provider and other systems
  • Push notifications, crash reporting and consent-respecting analytics
  • Automated builds and tests for both platforms from one pipeline
  • Real-device testing; store or private release to managed devices

What this service is

One team builds each feature once; the framework produces the iOS and Android apps, with a little native code where needed. We use it when it fits, not by default: some apps are better native (iOS, Android), and we build those too.

Flutter (Dart)

Consistent visuals, strong performance, one rendering engine. Good for branded customer apps.

React Native (JavaScript, TypeScript)

Native interface components; logic and skills shared with React web apps.

.NET MAUI (C#)

For organisations whose developers and back ends run on Microsoft technologies.

Ionic, Capacitor, PWAs

Web code packaged as an app or installed from the browser.

Modernising old apps

Cordova or outdated framework apps moved to supported technology, keeping features and users.

When cross-platform makes sense

It suits most customer and business apps. Features, fixes and tests are written once: lower build and maintenance costs, and both versions stay in step, so Android users never wait for iPhone features. In a mobile-first market where both platforms matter, that is a real advantage. Where graphics, specialised hardware or day-one platform features matter, native code or more native modules are the better call.

Sharing code with the web

With React Native, business logic, validation rules and API clients can be shared with a React web application; a progressive web app serves the browser and the home screen from the same code. Shared design components keep the app consistent with your web platform, and one set of APIs serves every channel, so rules stay consistent with less duplicate work.

Quality on both platforms

Shared code does not mean identical behaviour, so we adapt navigation, dialogs and gestures to each platform. We test on slow or interrupted connections, with offline-tolerant behaviour where coverage is patchy. Apps can be localised for your users' languages, and store privacy disclosures are prepared from what the app actually collects, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Costs are planned release by release, with estimates in naira (or US dollars where a licence or service is priced in dollars). Managed-service clients can include the app's backend in 24/7 monitoring and support, with response targets set in the service agreement. The full path from idea to launch: mobile app development.

Delivery

How the work is delivered

  1. Assess the framework

Compare frameworks on your features, device needs, team skills and long-term support; the choice is written down.

    Output: Framework recommendation.

  2. Design

Design once, then adapt navigation, controls and gestures where iOS and Android users expect differences.

    Output: Approved designs and prototype.

  3. Build

Shared code in short iterations, with native modules for features the framework cannot reach.

Output: Test builds for both platforms.

  4. Test and release

Real devices on both platforms, accessibility checks, then both stores or private deployment.

    Output: Released apps.

  5. Maintain

Planned framework upgrades, with native modules kept aligned with new operating system versions.

    Output: Maintenance plan, regular updates.

Scope at a glance

Not included unless agreed

  • Developer program fees, test devices, approved third-party SDK licences
  • Backend systems outside the agreed scope
  • Ongoing support after handover, unless separately agreed

What we need from you

  • Apple and Google developer accounts in your organisation's name
  • Access to the APIs and systems the app uses
  • Product owner for approvals; details of your maintainers' skills

Before handover

  • Every release tested on real iOS and Android devices, not only simulators
  • Navigation, back behaviour, dialogs, VoiceOver and TalkBack checked on each platform
  • Native modules documented (purpose, updates); versions recorded, upgrade procedure tested

What affects the cost

  • Screens, features and native modules
  • Integrations with backends and other systems
  • Offline operation and data synchronisation
  • Upgrading or rewriting an existing hybrid app

No package prices: estimates in naira from an agreed scope, taxes shown separately.

Questions buyers usually ask

Is a cross-platform app slower than a native one?

For most business and customer apps, modern frameworks perform well and users notice no difference. Heavy animation, 3D graphics or intensive processing can benefit from native code, and we will tell you if yours does.

What is the difference between hybrid and cross-platform?

Older hybrid apps (Cordova, Ionic) run a web page inside an app shell; Flutter and React Native draw native-quality interfaces. We still use Ionic with Capacitor or a progressive web app when sharing code with a website matters most.

Can we use device features such as the camera and Bluetooth?

Yes. Framework plugins cover common features, and we write small native modules for anything they do not.

How do we avoid getting stuck on an old framework version?

Upgrade regularly, not once every few years. We plan framework upgrades into maintenance and keep native code small and documented, so each upgrade stays manageable.

Need your app on both iPhone and Android?

Tell us what the app should do, who will use it and who will maintain it. We'll discuss the right framework before anything is priced.
